CPM-Trinamul clash, bandh

 

COOCH BEHAR, Nov. 4: The CPI-M sponsored 12-hour bandh at Ruhidanga Gram Panchayat area in Mathabhanga passed off peacefully today. The CPI-M called the bandh in protest against attack on their supporters by the Trinamul Congress men last night. The Trinamul Congress however opposed the bandh.

 

Police sources said clash occurred between Trinamul Congress and CPI-M supporters last night when they took out rallies at Atpukuri village under Ruhidanga Gram Panchayat. During the clash local party offices of both the political parties were ransacked and damaged. About 15 persons from both sides were wounded during the melee.

 

When contacted, Mathabhanga SDPO Mr Ananda Roy said police started raiding at different places to nab the persons involved in the violence. []
