Trinamul halts train in Cooch Behar

 

COOCH BEHAR, Nov. 4: Trinamul Congress supporters halted the Bamanhat-Alipurduar Junction passenger train at Cooch Behar Railway Station for about an hour today. They were agitating at the station premises in support of their different demands. Later, the plying of train services along the route restored to normalcy.

 

Supporters of Trinamul Yuva Congress organised today's demonstration at Cooch Behar Railway Station demanding running of Uttar Banga Express and Mahananda Link Express from this railway station situated in Cooch Behar town. They also demanded launching of goods train along Alipurduar Junction-Bamanhat route, five-minute stoppage of Saraighat Express instead of two-minute stoppage at New Cooch Behar Railway Station and stoppage of Kolkata bound 'Garib Rath' at that station.

 

State Trinamul Congress secretary Md Abdul Jalil Ahmed, district Trinamul Congress president Mr Rabi Ghosh, vice-president Mr Niranjan Dutta, Mr Shiben Roy, district TYC president Mr Rajib Narayan and other leaders spoke on the occasion. The speakers demanded modernisation of Cooch Behar Town Station and improvement of railway services in the region. []
