Upgraded border fencing reduced crime : BSF

COOCH BEHAR, Jan. 11: After taking over charge, the newly appointed Commandant of 89-Bn BSF Mr Manjinder Singh, visited battalion headquarters at Sonari and companies deployed at Dinhata sub-sector along Indo-Bangladesh border.  He held a meeting with the local gram panchayat pradhan, GP members and villagers of the border area at Sahebganj border outpost. He interacted with them and inquired about their problems related to the border.  The villagers and others appraised Mr Singh about the current situation of the area.

 

BSF sources claimed that due to upgradation of border fencing along Indo-Bangladesh border from type-I to type-III criminal activities in Dinhata sub-sector area has come under control. 89-Bn BSF is deployed on Indo-Bangladesh Border of Dinhata Sub Sector. The upgraded fencing has helped them to control the nefarious activities of anti-national elements.

 

A friendly volleyball match was held between BSF jawans of Sahebganj BOP and members of local clubs at Sahebganj Primary School ground.  It was one of the steps being taken by the 89-Bn BSF to maintain friendly relation with the border people. Mr Singh assured them that the border guards would ensure their security. []
