REPUBLIC DAY

R-Day preparation complete in Cooch Behar

 

COOCH BEHAR, Jan. 25: The 60-th Republic Day will be observed in Cooch Behar district tomorrow. The police would keep a strict watch on the R-Day celebrations including flag hoisting, parade and cultural programmes in all the police station areas in the district especially in the bordering areas to maintain peace. Even media persons will have to wear security passes to enter the main programme that will be held at Cooch Behar Stadium adjacent to Cooch Behar Palace.

 

At Cooch Behar Stadium, the district magistrate of Cooch Behar Mr Rajesh Kumar Sinha will hoist the National Flag and take salutes from the cadres and jawans of different forces like police, home guard, civil defence organisation, National Cadet Corps and students of different schools. Freedom fighters will be felicitated on the occasion. Prizes will be given to the best performers of march past, tableau and cultural performance.

 

District Ex-Servicemen's Association will organise a cultural programme at the Children's Park near Sagardighi. They will also organise a guard-of-honour programme at the Martyrs' Column near the Patton Tank that was captured from Pakistan Army in 1971 and kept as a war memorial at Shahid Baag since then.
