Bird flu panic in Mathabhanga

 

COOCH BEHAR, Jan. 25: The villagers of Uttar Dangkoba under Pachagarh gram panchayat in Mathabhanga sub-division are suffering from bird flu panic following death of about fifty chickens in that area in the past five days. The pradhan of Pachagarh GP Mr Kajal Roy conveyed the matter to the higher authorities.

 

When asked, the deputy director of animal resource development department in Cooch Behar Dr Tapan Kumar Roy said today that they already collected blood samples from the Uttar Dangkoba area to send for examination. An awareness drive has been initiated in Mathabhanga-I and Mathabhanga-II blocks to aware villagers about the dos and don'ts in case of any outbreak of avian influenza, Dr Roy said.

 

Earlier, about four days ago bird flu panic spread at Nagar-bhangni village in Dinhata. Samples collected from the area were sent for laboratory test in Kolkata but no bird flu positive report came yet, ARD department sources said.
