AGITATION

Indefinite dharna : Day 4

COOCH BEHAR, Jan. 1: The indefinite sit-in of the members of the All Bengal Primary Teachers Trainee Association (ABPTTA) entered its fourth day today. They have been demonstrating with Thala-Bati-Kambol (empty utensils and rugs) in front of the office of the District Primary School Council (DPSC) in Cooch Behar since Monday.

ABPTTA president Mr Bhajan Barman said they would wait till 3 January as they received information that the government may declare something positive on that day. Otherwise, they are ready to start a fast-unto-death programme from 4 January, he said.

Meanwhile, the Cooch Behar MP, Mr Hiten Barman appeared at the site of the sit-in on Wednesday evening and advised the agitating trained students of the Primary Teachers Training Institutes (PTTI) to start an indefinite hunger strike in New Delhi to achieve success, ABPTTA sources said. []
