Bird Flu alert in Cooch Behar

COOCH BEHAR, Dec. 12: Following massive outbreak of bird flu in neighbouring Assam the district administration of Cooch Behar sounded special alert throughout the district especially in the areas along Assam-Bengal and Indo-Bangladesh borders.

 

When inquired, the Cooch Behar ADM (D) Mr Pannalal Mahapatra said arrangements were being taken to disinfect all vehicles coming from Assam at the entry points to Cooch Behar at Baxirhat from today. Similar disinfecting measures were taken and still going on at Changrabandha in Mekhliganj since the outbreak of the killer disease in Bangladesh sometime ago, he said.

 

The ADM (D) said they alerted all concerned to report any incident of unnatural death of any backyard bird or poultry or other birds. The animal resource development department officials are to send samples of bloods collected from different areas for laboratory tests. At least ten samples will be send everyday (and the process started from today) to Kolkata for test, he added. []
