TEACHERS' CONFERENCE

ABTA meet starts on Friday

 

COOCH BEHAR, Nov. 6: The two-day conference of the Cooch Behar district unit of the All Bengal Teachers' Association (ABTA) will begin here at Rabindra Bhavan tomorrow. General secretary of the ABTA Mr Shibaprasad Mukhopadhyay will inaugurate the conference.

 

Cooch Behar district unit president of the ABTA, Mr Samarendra Saha said the delegates would discuss over development of quality of education in the conference. As the problems in the infrastructure in education sector is much less these days than that in previous years efforts should be there for its more improvement.

 

ABTA wants 10 percent of Central Budget allocation for education sector and 6 percent of national income, said the district unit secretary Mr Bakul Dutta.

 

Referring midday meal scheme in schools Mr Saha made it clear that the ABTA is not against the scheme but it should be conducted by other agencies instead of involving the teachers in cooking and maintaining accounts. The students should not suffer from poor study system to maintain running of the midday meal scheme, he opined. []
