Bandh against atrocities

 

COOCH BEHAR, July 8: The Trinamul Congress called a 24-hour bandh tomorrow at Natabari in Tufanganj as a mark of protest against atrocities done by the CPI-M and the police jointly on Trinamul Congress supporters.

 

Mentionworthy, a clash was occurred at Natabari on Saturday night between CPI-M and Trinamul Congress supporters. Five persons were wounded in that clash. One Abdar Ali and his minor son were arrested and sent to the court on Monday in connection with that incident. Abdar Ali is an assistant sub-inspector (ASI) of police engaged at Falakata police station in Jalpaiguri district. On leave he came to his village abode at Natabari. CPI-M sources alleged that Ali participated in the clash on behalf of the Trinamul Congress though Trinamul Congress sources denied the allegation.

 

Vice-president of district Trinamul Congress, Mr Niranjan Dutta said, the CPI-M unleashed a reign of terror in several areas in Tufanganj sub-division. Condemning the violence that took place on Saturday Mr Dutta said, "Tomorrow we will observe a 24-hour bandh at Natabari to stage protest against the terror tactics of the CPI-M and police".
