WEBCON team visits Cooch Behar : Bid to promote religious tourism
COOCH BEHAR, May 27: In an aim to prepare a development plan for Cooch Behar Debottar Trust Board properties state tourism department has engaged West Bengal Consultancy Organisation (WEBCON) as the consultant. A four-member study team of WEBCON led by its project advisor (tourism), Mr Ratan Chandra Mahapatra visited different properties of Cooch Behar Debottar Trust Board mainly age-old temples on and from 21 May to 25 May. The study team met Cooch Behar DM Mr Rajesh Kumar Sinha, ADM (G) Mr Pannalal Mahapatra, SDOs, BDOs, chairmans of municipal bodies, Panchayat Samiti sabhapatis, Pradhans of Gram Panchayats, members of the DTB and others concerned during their visit.
Cooch Behar ADM (General) Mr Pannalal Mahapatra said the WEBCON team visited 29 temples under the guardianship of DTB in this district and examined the existing infrastructure available in those temples. They talked with all concerned aiming development of the infrastructure for the benefit of the visitors and devotees. The team will come again here before submitting their final study report and recommendations to the government, Mr Mahapatra said.
The ADM (G) said there were plans to add guesthouses and rest sheds for visitors and devotees adjacent to the temples. Drinking water and all other basis amenities will be available for them near the temples after implementation of the development plans, he said.
