Doctor assaulted

 

COOCH BEHAR, Sept. 15: Following a dispute between a doctor and a gram panchayat pradhan over admission of a patient the doctor was assaulted and his office room in JD Hospital near Cooch Behar town was ransacked today. Police took the doctor to safe custody to pacify the situation and admitted him to the MJN Hospital in Cooch Behar.

 

It was learnt that the pradhan of Khagrabari gram panchayat Mr Naresh Singha brought a patient to the JD Hospital this noon for treatment. During the admission process a dispute arose between the doctor on duty Dr Tushar Bhaumik and the pradhan. The dispute turned into scuffle. Locals from nearby areas rushed to the hospital and assaulted the doctor. They also ransacked it. On being informed the police appeared and controlled the situation. They took the doctor in their safe custody and admitted him to MJN Hospital. []
