CONFERENCE

Trinamul conference

COOCH BEHAR, Sept. 7: Expressing their support to the movement of the farmers in Singur and Nandigram the Trinamul Congress organised a political conference at NBSTC Hall in Cooch Behar today.

Dinhata MLA Mr Ashok Mandal, state Trinamul Congress general secretary and ex-MLA Mr Mihir Goswami, secretary Md Abdul Jalil Ahmed, district Trinamul president Mr Rabi Ghosh, vice-president Mr Niranjan Dutta, district INTTUC president Mr Sachin Adhikary, Mr Ranjit Gupta Choudhury and other leaders attended the programme.

In the convention the leaders came down heavily on the anti-people policies of the CPI-M run state government. They said, industrialisation was needed in this state but the government should not do that by forcibly acquiring cultivable lands and doing harm to the farmers. Senior Trinamul leader Mr Mihir Goswami warned that Trinamul Congress would no more allow the CPI-M and police to carry on their atrocities on Trinamul supporters especially in rural areas in this district.

Trinamul leader Mr Niranjan Dutta asked party activists to get ready for a movement to better the civic services including drinking water supply and proper drainage system in Cooch Behar town. He also demanded speedy completion of Sagardighi beautification drive and correction of BPL list. []
