Body found

 

COOCH BEHAR, July 17: Body of one Manik Debnath (45) was recovered from Dodearhat area beside the railway track on Thursday morning. There was mark of injury on his head. Debnath was a resident of Khagrabari area. Police said he was suffering from mental disorder and went to the spot last night probably to commit suicide. The body was sent for post-mortem to ascertain the actual cause of death. []

 

Body of newborn found

 

COOCH BEHAR, July 17: The body of a newborn child was found at a pond at Ranirhat in Mekhliganj on Thursday morning. Police rescued the body but its identity is yet to be ascertained. Recovery of the body created sensation in the locality. []

 

Workshop

 

COOCH BEHAR, July 17: A workshop on dowry, child marriage and empowerment of women will be held at Tufanganj Community Hall on Saturday. The sabhadhipati of Cooch Behar Zilla Parishad, Mr Dilip Kumar Biswas will inaugurate the workshop. District information and cultural affairs department and Tufanganj Municipality will organise the programme jointly. []
