CPM to organise grand rallies against Trinamul

COOCH BEHAR, June 15: Cooch Behar district secretariat meeting of the CPI-M was held today to discuss the Tufanganj situation that is going on since the declaration of rural poll results.

After the meeting the district CPI-M secretary Mr Chandi Pal alleged to the reporters that the Trinamul Congress is trying to make another Nandigram in Tufanganj. The administration is not tough enough to combat the situation. The Trinamul Congress supporters took out rallies violating the Section 144 CrPC that was imposed to maintain law and order. They damaged and ransacked a number of CPI-M offices in Tufanganj. As a result the CPI-M supporters are suffering from insecurity. Stern action is needed to bring back normalcy in that area. "We will convey the matter to the chief minister", he said.

Mr Pal, who is also the district convenor of the Left Front, declared that they would organise Mahamichhils (grand rallies) against the disruptive designs of the Trinamul Congress. Such rallies will be held in Mathabhanga on 20 June, in Cooch Behar Sadar on 23 June, in Dinhata on 24 June and in Tufanganj on 25 June.

Referring that Trinamul Congress defeated the CPI-M in Tufanganj-I and Tufanganj-II Panchayat Samitis and in some gram panchayats, Mr Pal said they would recapture Tufanganj with the active help of common people. "We will not allow anyone to bring back the dark days of seventy-two", he said. []
