BJP to field candidates in all ZP and LS seats

COOCH BEHAR, March 20: The BJP will field candidates in all the forty-two Lok Sabha seats and 712 Zilla Parishad seats in this state. The general secretary of the BJP's state unit Mr Rahul Sinha announced this decision of the party at Cooch Behar today in presence of the party's Cooch Behar district unit president Mr Nityananda Munsi.

Mr Sinha also disclosed that a three-day training camp of BJP whole-timers would be held at Naxalbari in Siliguri from 1 April. About seven hundred whole-timers of the party from Bihar, Jharkhand, West Bengal, Assam, Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram, Arunachal Pradesh and Meghalaya will attend the training camp. Central leaders of the party like Mr Ramlal Agarwal, Mr V Sathish, Mr Pyarelal Khandelwal, Mr Hridaynath Singh and Mr Prasanna Mishra will provide training to the whole-timers. The training camp will be held to strengthen the morale of the party workers prior to the three-tier Panchayat elections of West Bengal and the Lok Sabha election in the country, Mr Sinha said.

The BJP leader opined that the present rulers are engaged in dividing people communally in the name of reservation. The BJP supports reservation based on economic situation, not based on religious ground. The parties like CPI-M, Congress and Trinamul Congress consider Muslims as mere voters, not human beings. Mr Sinha came down heavily on the government for its abominable role in extending medical aid to Ms Taslima Nasreen.

Replying a question the BJP leader said there might be local alliances at lower level in the rural polls in the state but the party will contest in all the 712 Zilla Parishad seats. He demanded that rural polls should be conducted in a single day otherwise the CPI-M may take undue advantage from it. He also demanded deployment of paramilitary forces in all polling booths and same day counting of ballots.

Referring the situation of Darjeeling hills the state BJP general secretary made the CPI-M responsible for the disturbance and demanded releasing of a White Paper on the functioning of DGHC and the funds sanctioned and expensed during the regime of Mr Subash Ghisingh. []
