Smuggler killed

 

COOCH BEHAR, Oct. 4: A gang of Bangladeshi miscreants were trying to cross the Indo-Bangladesh border at Changrabandha in Mekhliganj sub-division in Cooch Behar district with some cattle last night. Seeing them the BSF jawans on patrolling duty challenged them but they had to open fire when the members of the gang tried to run away. One of them, identified as Atiar Rahman alias Halan (22) was gunned down and others escaped, police said. He was a resident of Burimari of Khatiarbari in Bangladesh. The body was sent for post-mortem to Mathabhanga today. It may be handed over to BDR tomorrow. []
