Chief Minister visits Cooch Behar

Chief Minister inaugurates new auditorium

Cooch Behar, October 29 : Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee arrived Cooch Behar this afternoon in a two-day visit.

Soon after landing at a make-shift helipad at MJN Stadium, she drove toward the newly built Cooch Behar Auditorum near Sagardighi to inaugurate it. The auditorium is named as Utsava following her wish. It was constructed by the North Bengal Development Department, with Rs 14-crore.

The CM held an Administrative Review Meeting with senior officials in presence of ministers, MLAs and  MPs.

She reviewed the ongoing projects and asked officials to keep contact with local MLAs, if necessary. She ruled out the proposal for erection of a new bridge in Mekhliganj. Instead, she suggested construction of new roads there.

She asked police officials to act according to government directive, ignoring any 'Netagiri' of anyone. The CM also suggested to keep strict vigil on the India-Bangladesh border.

Tomorrow, she will attend a mass meeting to be held at Raas Mela Ground where she will disburse government benefits to several beneficiaries under a number of schemes.
