Demonstration in Kendriya Vidyalaya
Normal functioning of Kendriya Vidyalaya in Cooch Behar has disrupted
on Friday following demonstration organised by the supporters of the
Chhatra Parishad and the students of the school. They were agitating
against beating of a student of Class X. When the reporters arrived
there to cover the event the principal of the school misbehaved with
them.
President of the Cooch Behar District Chhatra Parishad, Arindam Dey
alleged that a student of Class X, Dhrubajyoti Chakraborty was beaten
mercilessly by a para-teacher of the school on Thursday. The fault of
the student was that he wore a trouser that was not reportedly made
according to the school's uniform specification. The student received
serious injuries in his ears and eyes. The aggrieved guardians lodged
an FIR against the teacher. Dey said they organised the agitation
demanding suspension of the cruel teacher.
The students of the school too turned angry. They said the student was
beaten mercilessly like a dog. There is no healthy system or rule in
the school and the principal is a failure. She should be removed from
this school, the students said.
When media persons appeared at the school at Baburhat in Cooch Behar,
the principal, Kunti Dey tried to push them away. She even tried to
prevent them from covering the demonstration and also tried to stop
cameramen from taking photographs. Her misbehaviour shocked the media
persons. The agitated principal was found shouting to them asking them
to leave the place immediately. Police too rushed to the school to
maintain peace.
