LEARNED THIEVES

Computer thieves arrested

 

COOCH BEHAR, Jan. 30: Police arrested five persons in connection with theft of nine computers. Among the nabbed ones two are students. The stolen computers and the instruments and accessories concerned were also recovered. The computers were stolen from the computer centre of a local school named Vivekananda Vidyapith on 21 January, Cooch Behar SP Mr Devendra Prakash Singh said.

 

(In another incident that took place in the same night, a gang of thieves took away the projector and other instruments from the office of the Film Society of Cooch Behar, but those articles are yet to be recovered.)

 

The SP said they formed a team of police officials to conduct a probe into the theft. Yesterday, the team was able to nab the thieves and recover the stolen computers. The thieves are residents of Harin-chawra, Ghughumari and Chilkirhat. During interrogation it was revealed that they were involved with some other cases of thefts occurred recently in and around the town.

 

Yesterday, the police have detained a gang of four school-students involved in theft of bicycles. The SP said they were considering a proposal to conduct an awareness drive to prevent students from involving in criminal activities.
