COOCHBEHAR CALLING

National Legal Awareness Week ends

 

Observation of the National Legal Awareness Week that began on 9 November concluded on Sunday (16 November). A sensitisation programme was held at Cooch Behar Court premises on that day with the judges and the judicial magistrates engaged in Cooch Behar district. At the programme the aim and objective of observance of the week was explained.

 

Another programme was held at Lansdowne Hall for the physically challenged persons to aware all concerned about the legal rights offered to the physically challenged people. District Judge of Cooch Behar, KYS Manhas, principal magistrate cum secretary of the District Legal Services Authority, Manas Sanyal and other judicial magistrates mentioned the legal rights extended to the physically challenged people. The legal facilities, rights and other benefits offered to them were discussed elaborately. The speakers also explained the basic concept of observance of the week.

Achievers felicitated

 

Cooch Behar Sammilani, the organisation of the citizens of Cooch Behar who presently live in Kolkata, felicitated the students who achieved success in Madhyamik and Higher Secondary examinations this year, at a programme at the Zilla Parishad Hall in Cooch Behar on 15 November. State food and supplies minister Mr Paresh Chandra Adhikari was among the dignitaries who attended the programme. Secretary of Cooch Behar Sammilani, Samar Sengupta said they would arrange funds for poor meritorious students to continue their higher studies in Kolkata.
