Law violation programme

 

COOCH BEHAR, Sept. 22: A large number of cultivators staged a law violation programme at the office of the Cooch Behar Sadar SDO at Sagardighi Square today. 362 of them were courted arrest during the demonstration.

 

Secretary of Cooch Behar Alu-Pat-Dhan Chashi Sangram Committee, Mr Nripen Karjee said they organised the programme demanding waiving of agricultural loans in the interest of the affected potato growers.

 

Prior to the law violation programme the farmers gathered at Shahid Baag where the leaders came down heavily on the state government's indifference to the affected potato growers of Cooch Behar. The speakers demanded the government to buy potato against reasonable price to save the growers. []
