GREATER COOCHBEHAR

Demanding unconditional release of 56 proponents of a separate 'Greater Cooch Behar state' and withdrawal of all cases against them, the activists of the Greater Cooch Behar Democratic Party (GCDP) began indefinite hunger strike from Thursday morning at Shahid Baag in Cooch Behar of West Bengal. During the fast Hindu and Muslim religious rituals like Subachani Puja and special prayer to Allah was arranged. Ignoring the Left Front sponsored strike against price hike of petro-products the GCDP supporters assembled at Shahid Baag riding bicycles. – Debashis Bhaumik.
