Mamata attacks Buddha
COOCH BEHAR, May 13: Trinamul Congress supremo Miss Mamata Bannerjee sharply attacked the state chief minister Mr Buddhadeb Bhattacharjee for his failure in providing jobs for unemployed youths of the state and also for widespread corruption in implementation of NREGA scheme and public distribution system.
The Trinamul leader addressed two election meetings at Tufanganj and Mathabhanga in Cooch Behar on Tuesday. After her speech at Tufanganj she felt ill for some time due to the scorching heat but she recovered within a short while and left for Mathabhanga.
In her address Miss Bannerjee alleged that thousands of unemployed youths left the state to seek jobs in outer provinces as they got no opportunity here. The chief minister who very often delivers high-sounding words failed to arrange jobs for them.
Sharply criticising the Left Front run state government the Trinamul leader said the government is nothing but a failure in maintaining law and order situation. It also failed to stop corruption in implementing the NREGA scheme, issuing of Job Cards and in modified rationing system. She recalled that a few months ago a man had to die during agitation against corrupt MR dealers in Tufanganj.
Citing the example of recent violence that occurred at Nakkatigachh in Tufanganj Miss Bannerjee alleged that the CPI-M goons unleashed a reign of terror everywhere to comeback to power. The people should not allow them to stage a comeback. She also spoke on the government's failure in combating the annual floods and round-the-year river erosion. A large number of cultivators in different areas of Cooch Behar as well as in the state are yet to get irrigation facility, she alleged. []
