COOCH BEHAR, May 13: Aiming a peaceful poll in Cooch Behar district the Border Security Force were asked to keep strict vigil along the Indo-Bangladesh border so that no one can illegally cross the border with any ill intention. Movement of vehicles passing through the Assam-Bengal state border is also being controlled. Security men are checking all vehicles passing through the state border to stop trafficking of arms or explosives for subversive activities.
The district magistrate of Cooch Behar, Mr Rajesh Kumar Sinha said there are some places in Tufanganj where the people would have to go through Assam to reach a few polling booths. Security personnel and the authorities concerned were asked to ensure that voters could go to the said booths without any trouble.
The DM made it clear that no one will be allowed to cross the Indo-Bangladesh border illegally to ensure a peaceful election. Instructions were issued to keep strict vigilance on movement of all vehicles in the areas adjacent to the international border and the state border.
It was learnt that following the incident of explosion that occurred at Barobisa on Monday the security agencies are not in a mood to take any chance. Plainclothesmen were also deployed to keep watch on suspicious persons at railway stations, bus terminuses and the places where people have to gather. []
