Seminar on Haldia's downstream plastic industries
COOCH BEHAR, Jan. 3: A seminar on the prospect of downstream industries of plastic and packaging of potato in plastic (leno) bags was held at Jain Bhavan in Cooch Behar today. Haldia Petrochemicals Limited (HPL) and Cooch Behar District Merchants Chamber of Commerce (CDMCC) jointly organised the seminar that was attended by about 200 participants.
In the programme the speakers explained the prospects of downstream industries of HPL with audio-visual media. HPL manager (business development) Mr Bhaskar Roy Choudhury, Mr Debabrata Dey (manager), general manager of Cooch Behar District industries Centre (DIC) Mr Dilip Dhali and CDMCC secretary Mr RK Baid spoke on the occasion.
Mr Roy Choudhury explained the prospects of different plastic industries and use of plastic (leno) bags for packaging of potatoes. Mr Dhali assured all co-operations for setting up HPL downstream industrial units in Cooch Behar. Mr Baid said there are possibilities for setting up newer units in this district but additional land will be needed because there is no stretch of land left at the Chakchaka Industrial Growth Centre.
