Stalemate at university

COOCH BEHAR, Dec. 13: Uttar Banga Krishi Viswavidyalaya is still suffering from the stalemate that going on since 4 December over dismissal of the registrar, Dr Parimal Chandra Sarkar. Normal functioning of this farm university was disrupted today too due to sit-in demonstration organised in front of the administrative building by West Bengal University Officers' Association, Shramik Karmachari Samity, a section of teachers and students.

Meanwhile, the VC, Prof Mrinal Kanti Majumder invited the WBUOA for discussion at his residence. But, the agitating officials declined to attend his office and invited the VC to his office at the university for the discussion. As a pre-condition they urged the VC to withdraw the dismissal order issued to Dr Sarkar.

Mentionworthy, unrest started at the Pundibari campus of UBKV in Cooch Behar since 4 December over dismissal of its registrar Dr Parimal Chandra Sarkar. Since issuance of the order the vice-chancellor Prof Mrinal Kanti Majumder did not attended his office at the UBKV till today. He is performing his official works from his residence. []
