Foes turn friends

COOCH BEHAR, Oct. 29: Drawing an end to their enmity in Cooch Behar district the Forward Bloc will participate in all programmes and movements with the CPI-M from now on.

Following a decision adopted at the state level a meeting of District Left Front was held today and both the parties decided to work jointly, according to Cooch Behar (North) MLA and a also state committee member of Forward Bloc, Mr Dipak Sarkar.

Losing two seats in the last Assembly election in Cooch Behar – Dinhata and Sitai - the Forward Bloc had declared that they would not participate in any programme of Left Front with the CPI-M in Cooch Behar district. They held the CPI-M responsible for the defeats. After demise of the heavyweight FB leader Kamal Guha both the parties were trying to come closer. At last they agreed to delete the divisive line.

District CPI-M secretary Mr Chandi Pal, Cooch Behar MP (Rajya Sabha) Mr Tarini Roy, state FB member Mr Udayan Guha, Cooch Behar MP (Lok Sabha) Mr Hiten Barman and others were present at today's Left Front meeting. []
