Job scheme starts
COOCH BEHAR, June 7: Sabhadhipati of Cooch Behar Zilla Parishad, Mr Jnanendra Chandra Chanda inaugurated construction of an earthen embankment to prevent erosion of Torsa river at Ghughumari in Cooch Behar today. The work will be held under National Rural Employment Guarantee Act (NREGA) popularly known as 100-day job guarantee scheme. Additional district magistrate (general) of Cooch Behar, Mr Pannalal Mahapatra, Cooch Behar-I BDO Mr S Dukpa and local Gram Panchayat functionaries were present at the inauguration programme.
Inaugurating the project the CZP sabhadhipati Mr Chanda appealed to all concerned to work with proper importance to construct the embankment. He assured the villagers that there will be no problem over payment against their labour but at the same time no evasion in work will be allowed. He declared that construction of embankments and digging of ponds are being introduced in the 100-day job guarantee scheme as there were many earthen roads constructed under the three-tier Panchayat system.
The ADM (G) Mr Mahapatra made it clear that application forms for obtaining Job Cards to get jobs under the scheme are available free of cost. Any allegation of selling such forms against fees or extortion will be dealt with strictly. The BDO, Mr Dukpa too assured all about transparency in the job scheme procedure. []
